Blessing of the Animals - October 4, 2009

 A special blessing will be performed on every animal brought to the Garden St. Churchyard at 3:00 on October 4, 2009. Please have your pet leashed, created and under control at all times. This is a non-denominational event open to all.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast – October 11, 2009

The St. John’s Men’s Prayer Breakfast may be the longest running continuous event of its kind in the diocese.  Join in and continue the tradition.  All men and boys are welcome for good food and fellowship. Times: 8:00 a.m. Holy Communion in the Chapel; Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall.  Please see Ernest Ferguson to sign up to help with this great event.

Celebrating Bishop Henderson, Celebrating Lives Changed—87th Diocesan Convention - October 16-17, 2009, Carolina First Center, Greenville S.C.
Our bishop is retiring at the end of the calendar year, so we're planning a very special celebration of his ministry

  • Friday, October 16, following the business day of our annual Diocesan Convention. Highlights of evening will be a gala dinner beginning at 6:30 and topped off by an “episcopal roast" (with emcee The Rev. Mike Flanagan) – including great surprises.
  • Saturday, October 17 will be a day of inspiring worship with The Very Rev. Michael Kinman as our preacher and our bishop as our celebrant. Choir members from around the diocese are encouraged to join the mass choir. Congregations are asked to bring and process their banners.

  • Sunday, December 6 - Celebration of St. Nicholas Day, Details to be Announced, FUMC Youth House 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm (FUMC Host)

  • Sunday, December 20 - Christmas Caroling to Shut Ins, Details to be Announced, St. John's Parish House 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm (St. John’s Host)

Plant a Garden for the Food Bank - September through November

Katherine Doty, Nancy Williams, Jessie Stidham, Debbie Stidham, Marion Walker Coleman, and John  Coleman planted a garden on the side of the parish hall. Green plants have already emerged and a great fall harvest is expected!! Stop by and have a look.

Spring Break Camp at Gravatt

Looking for an exciting spring break opportunity? How about a week at Camp Gravatt? More info to come, but mark your calendar for April 5 - 10 (coincides with spring break for Richland County, SC as well as many others). This camp session is available for 5th through 9th graders. Cost will be $350. Sign up for spring break camp, and receive a discount on summer camp fees!
